Let's talk about Google.
We have to do so in incredibly hushed tones because they are always listening, seeing and cataloging everything (well almost) for the world's most important search engine.
We all know that the demise of Yellow Pages in print and Alta-vista, Ly-cos et al has been because Google 'does it better'. Through that very simple site, you can be found, be seen, be liked, be trusted and be minted (as in make some serious cash because people will have already done their homework on you).
So what is the secret to high Google rankings?
I wrote this post because I am in the middle of organising my big Celebrity Social Media Boot Camp (http://www.socialmegastar.com) and had a few jealous people firing out bad comments about me through the Twitterverse.
It made me laugh for three reasons...
1) Anything you put online is there forever and will catch up with you at some point.
2) You will always get critics whatever you do. It just proves that you are making waves.
3) I know that I am good at this, or else I wouldn't be doing it. Trust me, I'd make a lousy banker or carpenter - that's why I'm NOT one!
So I wrote this message as a homage to anyone who ever lets other people's stupid criticism get them down.
After reading this and watching the video, I hope that will no longer include you.
Well, it may come as a shock to you, but you have a book inside you that everyone wants to read.
Well, whilst the fact that at least one book is lying dormant in your subconscious mind is definitely true, I'd like to qualify it further. You have the ability to create a book that a small but highly significant community of people would pay anything to get their hands on.
Whomever you are, whatever you do and wherever you live.
For the first time in history an artist can create the material, find an audience, market themselves, organise their events and launch their career completely from their laptop.
That also includes being mentored by industry experts, collecting fees, producing and selling their own back-end products and communicating with their loyal fanbase whilst on the move - shopping, attending a premier or waiting back stage before performing.
What can a working knowledge of social media do for you?
After a lifetime of working in entertainment, I believe that now is the most exciting opportunity for any creative artist whether their expertise is as an actor, musician or DJ to launch or step up their business, become famous and make some serious money for life.
About 5 years ago, in Dubai (in the Middle East - in case you didn't know) I got up at 4am to drive into town ahead of the rush hour traffic and attend a breakfast meeting for entrepreneurs. It was the BNI Falcon Chapter and their first ever meeting.
There were 7 of us.
